AHI Design woked closely with Khalifa University’s design team to conceptualise and execute the enhancement of the auditorium and all the adjoining areas, the intention was to enhance and modernise the ambience and upgrade the AV systems with improved acoustic performace.

Client Brief

The Petroleum Institute is comprehensive research-intensive university located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, with three colleges, three research institutes, 18 research centers, and 17 departments covering a broad range of disciplines in science, engineering, and medicine and is funded by a consortium of national and international oil companies. The goal of the institution is to provide the local oil and gas industry with engineers. PI merged with the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (MI), and the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research (KUSTAR).

The Scope

AHI Design worked closely with Khalifa University’s design team to conceptualize and execute the enhancement of the auditorium and all the adjoining areas. The intention was to enhance and modernise the ambience and upgrade the AV systems with improved acoustic performance.

Challenge

  1. Conceptualise creative design.
  2. Integration of an upgraded AV system within the design.
  3. Provision of new and modern furniture complimenting the overall arrangement.

How we added Value

The welcome walkway was completely redesigned and refurbished to provide a more spacious and welcoming atmosphere with the provision of a bespoke graphic manifestation on the wall linings. The interior was rejuvenated by the installation of custom made lounge seating and tailor made wall to wall carpet.

Auditorium seating were dismantled and reupholstered in a bespoke fabric, existing stage flooring was dismantled and replaced with state of the art custom flooring with sound absorbent application. A stretchable acoustic product was used to cover the wall linings.
